Success Stories
Nike
This is Nike's Story.  In June 2006 a 6 week old kitten was
thrown from a window of a moving car at a very busy
intersection.  She was left for dead in the middle of the road with
cars driving over her until a very nice person named Miranda
stopped and saved her.  All the vets offices were closed at that
late hour and so this poor kitten lay helpless until the next
morning in a kennel at a pet store.  When I arrived at work, I
immediately got her to a veterinarian and asked if she could be
saved because she couldn't walk.  The vet called me an hour
later and said this kitten could live a very normal life but her right
front leg would need to be removed because the nerves were
severed and not repairable.  She would also have to have her the
skin on her lower jaw reattached.  Through my efforts and
friends, we had her leg removed and her jaw reattached. She
could barely eat and as you can see, couldn't go very long
without food.  She didn't like canned food, milk, or anything.
Finally she got to a food bowl and ate dry food in her condition
and drank plain water.  Nike was named after the Greek
Goddess of Victory.  Nike Triumphed over those cruel people
that "threw" her away.
Success Stories
Zeus
Rescued February 17, 2008
ADOPTED
When we obtained Zeus we were told that he was 3 years old.
He has scarring on his neck and is somewhat standoffish of
people.  We found out that he possibly came from the cattle
auction and could have been  headed to a slaughter plant.  The
veterinarian came to evaluate him and said he was closer to 6
or 7 years of age, in poor condition, and extremely
underweight.  Zeus was gelded and started on a new diet to
improve his health and help him gain weight. We are working
with him to get him more trusting of the good people in the
world and he will then make a wonderful riding horse. He is
very high spirited and needs someone that knows about
horses and willing to work with him.  He rides well and will
make a great horse.
Coggins test is current and negative March 2008.

"Hank"
Rescued on April 5, 2008.  He was found wondering in a North Texarkana neighborhood.
People had been feeding him for over a week and looking for the owners.
Animal Control had been called to take them to the shelter and we were called also.
He had no collar, he was checked for microchip and none found.
He has been neutered and all shots. He is a sweet dog and rides well in the car.
